Emotionally Focused Therapy

Closeness without losing yourself.

The model

Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, is an attachment based approach to couples therapy that helps partners understand the patterns they get caught in when connection feels threatened.

Sometimes one person reaches harder while the other pulls away. Sometimes closeness begins to feel overwhelming, while too much distance leaves both people feeling alone. Over time, these protective responses become a cycle that takes over the relationship — even when both partners want to feel closer.

EFT helps couples slow that cycle down, understand the emotions and needs underneath it, and communicate in ways that create greater safety and connection.

The goal is not for two people to become one. It's a relationship where closeness and individuality can exist together.

In our practice
