My approach
Finding a therapist takes real labor, so here is how I think about this work.
One of the most important parts of helpful therapy is the human connection — that sense of "click" with your therapist. I aspire to be warm and to genuinely care for my clients, and most of them feel that care, because it's real. That foundation is what allows me to be honest, to challenge directly, to make mistakes and repair them, and to keep checking that the work is actually useful to you.
My licensure tells you something about how I think. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist — a licensure that centers on understanding a person within the systems they belong to. That systemic view shaped how I understand change. In a previous career I worked as a clinical child psychologist, and I noticed I was most useful when I could also work meaningfully with parents on co-parenting. Often the most powerful place to create change is in the part of the system that holds the most power.
I'm a certified Emotionally Focused Therapy couple therapist — a rigorous process involving coursework, supervision, and submitting session recordings for review with my clients' consent. EFT helps couples slow down, notice their patterns, understand what those patterns mean emotionally for each partner, and share that with each other, so they fight the pattern together rather than each other. I've found it works best in combination with other approaches: mindfulness and somatic practice help couples actually slow down in session, and psychodynamic thought has been the more useful resource for processing anger.
Cultural literacy is essential to this work. As an immigrant, I understand the pain of living with a marginalized identity and how deeply it shapes our sense of self and our relationships. Many people carry quiet "shoulds" imposed by society, and naming those pressures can be deeply healing — especially when you're able to stand with the people close to you. In our work together your cultural heritage is part of the process: queerness, country of origin, race, ethnicity, kink, and nonmonogamous relationships are not side notes, they're central to how we understand your story.
I will never push you toward a particular outcome. My commitment is to help each of you get free enough of old pain to see what you're genuinely willing to choose.
Training & credentials
I'm an immigrant, and living between languages and cultures taught me how much gets lost when people assume they already understand each other — a lesson I bring to every couple I work with.
